Peter, Putin is a monster.......He could have made Russia a great country with freedoms for his people and made it a vacation land...but he chose to be a monster.....he not only destroyed the Ukraine, but also his own country. I doubt either will recover any time soon. What a mess.....Your butterfly was also very beautiful! My parents left a war torn country but never forgot and dreamed things would get better and they could go back, but it never came to fruition. While we in the free world celebrate Christmas, don't forget the war torn peoples in Ukraine. May this war soon come to an end so that they can begin to rebuild.

Don - I have to admit that I have to plead guilty to logging in but not posting. But that's me of course - always been a listener rather than a talker. (I have difficulty verbalizing my thoughts/feelings.) The starbursts on the lights appeared in the raw files, much to my surprise! I like your three images. The macro I appreciate because my attempts at macros have not been too good. I now really only have one lens - a Sony 24-240 zoom. Not very sharp, and cannot do macros or birds/wild animals too well. Also, I don't use my cellphone camera much.
Dave - Thanks for your thoughtful comments. Your succulent image is great, as usual. I think that our feelings on composition tend to coincide!
Lorell - Thanks for the comments. The "Uber" comment gives me an idea for the title! Well done on that image - it certainly is striking!
Peter - Neat mistletoe image. And, as always, you are able to follow up with so much interesting/technical information on your world!
Rich - Many thanks. Something was worrying me about the reflections in that shot, and you have just nailed it. I'll redo the left side. Nice shots of tempestuous waters there.
Don - Another really impressive macro shot of a butterfly.
Peter - Talking of butterflies, here's another good example. At the first camera club I joined we had a butterfly expert, and it was fascinating to hear what he had to say. Some of them live only between certain altitudes and such like.
Natalie - It is really terrible what that idiot Russian is doing to the Ukraine - and the rest of the world too for that matter. Here's hoping it will stop soon.

That's why I think it is appropriate that his name sounds like Poo tin because he's a real sh** can.
Your comments about how both Russia and Ukraine could have been idyllic holiday destinations are poignant when we consider that it will be a long time before they ever get the chance again.
