Peter, the birds around here also would decimate my berries. But we built a frame out of 2x8 boards, and used PVC to make loops, then stretched bird netting over those loops when the berries are getting ripe......works great!! We have heavy clay soils which don't drain well, so we have all the plants in pots...some are 5 years old....doing well.....
