Saturday & Sunday, July 7 & 8, 2023 - Adamphotoman - 07-08-2023 I have a long way to match Dave's prowess with flowers I 'm afraid. Keep on keepiing on. You'll get there. This one is almost perfect. Just needs a few tweaks. Next time try to focus on the central part of the flower. It will then leap off the page.
RE: Saturday & Sunday, July 7 & 8, 2023 - Dave - 07-09-2023 Grant, I think it's more that we have different styles. I go for strong colors, high value contrast, and a COI that's in sharp focus; subtlety isn't usually a big part of my images. You often show us a softer, more pleasing style. In your photo above, your subtle touch with the muted colors, calming (and almost swirling) background, and subdued value contrast conveys a different mood - in this case serene and kinda dream-like. RE: Saturday & Sunday, July 7 & 8, 2023 - Adamphotoman - 07-09-2023 2nd attempt. RE: Saturday & Sunday, July 7 & 8, 2023 - Man From Ironbark - 07-09-2023 You are keeping on keeping on and as you can see, you are creating opportunities.
RE: Saturday & Sunday, July 7 & 8, 2023 - Dave - 07-09-2023 Nice one, Grant. Lovely colors, the soft background complements the flower, good values, and the COI is sharper. And the copmosition is top-notch. Another example of how understated can be better than overdone. Speaking of overdone, I may have crossed that line this recrop and re-processing of a photo from nearly 8 year ago... I hope all are having a good weekend. RE: Saturday & Sunday, July 7 & 8, 2023 - Adamphotoman - 07-09-2023 Dave , I like it, especially how the leaves work in the composition. Here is another I reworked. and another RE: Saturday & Sunday, July 7 & 8, 2023 - Man From Ironbark - 07-09-2023 I like the effect you created there Dave. Improvements all round for Don. ![]() This is one tree. The mallee grows from a ever spreading underground lignotuber that happily sacrifices the above ground shoots to fires droughts and until we developed the stump jump plough, even man's attempts to suppress. There is precious little mallee country left and what is there is being rapidly chewed up by ever expanding mega agribusiness while the supermarts clearly devalue the costs to produce food and Australians throw billions of dollars worth of fresh food away uneaten every year. From bent cucumbers and straight bananas to directly from our own fridges because we are encouraged to buy more than we eat.
