Saturday/Sunday July 30-31, 2022 - Michael - 07-29-2022 Wow, missed a lot while I was gone. Great shots and work everyone!! 'Bout an hour early, but I'll start the weekender with an abstract. CL with 35mm And a Happy Birthday to whoever had one on Friday!!
RE: Saturday/Sunday July 30-31, 2022 - Quint - 07-29-2022 Michael, Great geometry and colors. RE: Saturday/Sunday July 30-31, 2022 - Don - 07-30-2022 Good morning guys and thanks for starting the weekend thread. Good colors and nice detail in the shadows Michael. The image really catches the eye. RE: Saturday/Sunday July 30-31, 2022 - Luv2shoot - 07-30-2022 Michael, cool. I just woke up and it took my brain a minute to turn your image 90 degrees clockwise. Like this composition, clarity, simplicity and geometry. How is the new pup doing? Good morning, Don and Steve, and all who follow. Steve, do you prune the suckers from your tomato plants along with the yellow leaves? In the past I haven’t but the bushes are starting to get out of control. RE: Saturday/Sunday July 30-31, 2022 - Quint - 07-30-2022 Lorell, The yellow leaves can be from several reasons but, yes, remove them and don't compost them. Besides blights, nutrients, etc., it may be just old leaves. I mix a tsp of baking soda in a quart of water with a squirt of dish soap as a sticker. Spray you leaves front and back early on. This will help keep viruses at bay. It raises the leaf surface ph to where the viruses won't thrive. Depending on you plant variety. Keep up to 3 main stems on indeterminates then remove suckers as they form. Determinates need less pruning and cherry tomatoes don't require pruning. I prune the lower branches on all my plants and keep the plants open enough for air and light to get through. RE: Saturday/Sunday July 30-31, 2022 - Dave - 07-30-2022 That's excellent, Michael, for all the reasons others have mentioned. I'll add that I really like the composition and how it leads the eye from the 2nd blue/black horizontal in the large window to the section with triangular window panes, then briefly to the beautiful wood at the right before being reflected/directed back to the left edge. Hi Don, Lorell, and those who visit later. Quint, although your gardening advice was a response to Lorell, I'm going to take it too. About the only thing I've planted this spring/summer that has done OK (and barely that) is this sunflower (one of 12 that I sowed. It's stunted (at most 3 feet tall), but at least the blossom developed nicely... You all have yourselves a safe, happy, and productive weekend. RE: Saturday/Sunday July 30-31, 2022 - Quint - 07-30-2022 Dave, you don't need to remove all suckers on your indeterminates either. If the plant can handle them they may produce more fruit for you. Also, stick some deep into wet soil and they'll give you a new plant. RE: Saturday/Sunday July 30-31, 2022 - Man From Ironbark - 07-30-2022 I see that we have some enthusiastic tomato growers. ![]() Here's something that may be of interest? Ever wondered what it would be like for artificial intelligence to trip-out while watching Bob Ross paint a pretty picture? This video was created by Alexander Reben, an engineer turned artist who uses technology to explore how machines are changing the human world and vice versa. It features an episode of the stoner-favorite television show The Joy of Painting with Bob Ross through Google’s neural network DeepDream. https://www.iflscience.com/watch-artificial-intelligence-lose-its-mind-while-watching-bob-ross-41194 RE: Saturday/Sunday July 30-31, 2022 - damar - 07-30-2022 That is a very cool composition, Michael! Great photo for starting the weekend thread! The colors are vibrant and the geometrics are tight! Thanks Quint for the tomato tips! Yesterday I pulled out the cukes and pruned the tomato plants, cutting off sun leaves and the yellowed out ones. Thinning them out a bit reduced some of the top heaviness too as they were starting to lean. My cages were grossly inadequate for tall San Marzanos. I also trim off bottom leaves of tomatoes and green peppers. I picked four nice peppers today and will post tomorrow. They are on my ipad. Very beautiful sunflower portrait, Dave! Hi MFIB! I will go watch the video after I post here. Everyone loves Bob... ![]() We drove up to Clarksville, GA today (1 hour drive) Northeast GA mountain region..stopped by an antique shop and car museum.
