Sat/Sun July 16/17 - Don - 07-16-2022

Good morning everyone and welcome to the weekend. Hope you have something fun planned. The only thing I have to do this weekend is go pick up my photos that were hanging in the gallery up in La Grange. Don't know if any of them sold but I will find out tomorrow when I go to get them. Not really counting on that though. The biggest news though is that DW is coming home tomorrow from DDs house. She was up there helping with the grandkids while hubby was away with work. I'm hoping she will be home by the time I get back from the gallery.

Yeah Patty, I try to check in to the forum at least daily just to see what is going on. I haven't been posting much because I was trying to get my CD finished and sent off for pressing. That's done now so now I wait for them to get made and sent back. Probably another 2 or 3 weeks though.

Here are some more random shots from my "shoot" up at Callaway Gardens. I hope to get the 4x5 B&W film developed today as well. Curious to see how the pinhole shots turn out.

Thanks for starting our weekend Daily, Don.

I've really enjoyed your photos of the past couple of days: a range of subjects amd styles, all well-executed, as usual.

More succulents; this one taken yesterday in the narrow side yard...

Wishing a good weekend to all.

RE: Sat/Sun July 16/17 - Don - 07-16-2022

Good morning Dave - I really like the colors on those succulents!

Well, I processed the 6 sheets of 4x5 this morning and it was a complete disaster. None of them appear to be salvageable at all. I'm going to dry them and get them into the computer and see what happens. Strange that the shots from both the Pressman and the pinhole are "bad". Might be the processing but I used chemicals that should still be good. On top of that I managed to break (again) a fragile piece of the developing tank, something that holds the sheets apart. I repaired it once with epoxy and hopefully can repair the other side. No way I could ever find that part since they stopped making it years ago. Just a terrible morning.

Oh, Don, so sorry to hear about the troubles that you are having.  Hopefully, your luck turns around and things start going right.
I love the flower that you used to start the weekend thread.  It is pretty unique, well, unusual for me anyways.  I have never seen a bloom like that. The petals look like leather or wrinkled skin.  And that tomato is so cool too.  Is it suppose to be formed like that?

Dave, That is an interesting succulent.  I picture that in a kids' movie or a children's storybook with faces embedded in the flowers.  I love the shades of soft orange on the petals.

This week is "local Photo club week" when I will be busy gathering my photos for the Thursday night meeting.
One of the categories is Starbursts/Sunbursts.
I know with all of the heat that we have been experiencing lately, I know that sometimes just seeing photos of snow can help cool a person.  So, here is one for the Sunburst category.

Have a great start to your weekend.
LORELL

Hi, Don....wow, your images are so sharp! That white flower is very interesting, well shot! What texture!! As I said, so sharp!! Great bokeh! And that tomato, it looks so ....perfect! Love the color...your water scene is perfect, also..love that bridge back there....wanna go walk there!! What a wonderful reflection!! So sorry to hear about the break in the tank....keep your eye out, sometimes things are found on Ebay that you never expect! Good luck.
Hi, Dave....that sure is an interesting succulent...soft pastel colors! You do have a variety! Is this a very small one? Nice bokeh! Show us some more!
What a cool starburst, Lorell! ( Wink ) Love the colors reflected in the snow....

Good going on the CD Don!
We haven’t been to Callaway Gardens yet. I bet it's nice.
Wonder how it might be in the fall?
We have the (UGA) State Botanical Gardens a half hour away.
We haven’t been there in a few years. I love the conservatory.

Your flower macro is interesting, especially the texture; any idea what it is?
Pretty background too.
I love arch bridges/ What a beautiful photo of the lake and bridge.
Tomatoes looks promising!
My San Marzano’s are getting too tall for the supports and are s-l-o-w going.
I wont plant them next year. I’ll stick with regular Romas.
Oh, I just read further down on the posts. Sounds like you have a bad morning.
So sorry, I hope you are able to repair the developing tank part.
Hope you can salvage something from your exposures.
Hang in there.

The morning we broke camp to head back home, I was stowing the bunks back up against the wall and leaned into it
to put some tension on the restraining strap that holds them up. I heard and felt a few ribs pop...lost my breath for a few seconds,
cussed and went back to packing. Yeah, it hurts to breathe. I'm ok. Its happened before and I just take a few NSAIDS and try not to over work my side. It'll be a week or so before I'll be back to normal. Just is a great inconvenience.
$hit happens. But I'm grateful for the good stuff which is more abundant.

Wow Dave! Thats a very cool photo of the succulents!
They look ready to sing!
Tack sharp and pretty DoF. Nice!!!

Lorell!! Good to see you today!
I will take 3 of those chilly sunbursts to cool this day off!
Thats a great photo and your post treatment looks great!

Hiya Natalie!

Well we are doing some maintenance on the little toy hauler RV.
Had to replace a few sky light inserts. Want to swap out the interior
Lighting with LED and do some recaulking on the top side.
We have a cloth like cover for it, but it seems to attract mice.
They can climb up inside the cover and make camp where the cover makes a tent coming off the rooftop AC unit.
They are not welcome.

Well, I took a similar shot last year. Cowboy boots and flip flops on the beach. (SiL & DD)
Last year a woman saw SiL (swim shorts, cowboy boots and cowboy hat) as we walked down to the beach and she politely asked if she could take photos of him.
Yeah, he was odd looking! Guess ranchers don't visit that beach much!

Patty, great shot and I do like the contrast of subjects and color.
I plan on trying a polish heirloom called Opalka next year and possibly another paste one called Oregon Star by Territorial seeds.

RE: Sat/Sun July 16/17 - Don - 07-17-2022

Nice sunburst Lorell. Good "still life" Patty. Yeah, I can see why the lady wanted to take pictures. In Texas at the music fest I saw a number of ladies with shorts and cowboy boots, but only one guy. It just looked strange because it is something that you don't see every day, but hey, there are a lot more strange looking folks there. Several years ago I overheard a conversation between a mother and her young daughter, who apparently wanted to go to the restroom by herself. The mother said something like, "OK, fine, but if you see anyone who looks normal, you stay away from them". I thought that was really weird.

About to leave to drive up the road to La Grange to the Cochran Gallery to pick up the photos that were on display. Don't know if any sold but not too hopeful. Hope I get back home before DW does.

Don, Great start to the Weekend Thread. Sorry to hear about your developing tank. Have you tried Jobo tanks ? New on B&H. used on Ebay.
Dave, Spectacular composition on the succulents. You always make great images.
Lorell, Warm sun on a cold day !  We are happily running a new Central Air unit. It has been 35° C here and sticky.
Patty, Some folks live in cowboy boots ! Too funny...Not me I live in bare feet or sandles.
Hi Steve/ Hi Natalie

I grabbed an old manual 200 Micro Nikkor and strapped it on.

RE: Sat/Sun July 16/17 - Quint - 07-17-2022

Grant, such a cutie. It didn't even have time to dry off it's pretty face after its morning wash.
